Eating organic food can be beneficial for many reasons, including physical and mental well-being. This article explores several of these.
Fremont, CA: At various times, we have likely pondered the distinction between organic and conventional produce. Once exclusively available in health food stores, organic food has become a prevalent option in most grocery stores. This shift has created specific challenges in the produce section.
There are several valid reasons to consider adopting an organic diet at this time:
It is Fresher:
Organic produce is sourced directly from farmers, ensuring its freshness. In contrast, the produce available at supermarkets may have been stored indeterminately before being displayed, and how long it remains on the sales floor is still being determined. Additionally, imported produce could have spent considerable time in transit before reaching the country, raising questions about its freshness. The Organic Place acquires fruits and vegetables fresh from the farmer's market every Thursday, delivering them directly to our customers' homes by the end of the day. The only way to obtain any fresher food is to cultivate it yourself.
It is Free from Chemical and Pesticides:
Farmers adhering to organic practices refrain from using chemicals to enhance or accelerate growth. Organic fruits and vegetables are cultivated by the natural seasonal cycle, making them available only during appropriate growing periods. In a consumer-oriented society, there is an expectation for the availability of all products throughout the year, which often results in cultivating fruits and vegetables outside their natural seasons. This practice typically necessitates the use of chemicals to support their growth.
It Tastes Better:
Suppose our taste buds react negatively to the chemicals present in these conventional fruits and vegetables. In that case, one can only speculate about the potential harm they may inflict on our hearts, lungs, and other essential organs. Throughout history, we have relied on our sense of taste to help us avoid toxins. Therefore, choosing organic options is a logical decision.
It is Free from GMOs:
Organic food is devoid of genetic modifications. However, how can we ascertain the safety of genetically modified food for consumption and its potential effects on our health? The brief response is that we cannot. Consuming authentic, organic food is the only reliable method to ensure we are not adversely impacted.
It Is Healthier For You and More Nutrient Dense
Upon reviewing the points above, it is unsurprising that organic produce is more beneficial when fresh, in season, flavorful, and devoid of chemicals and GMOs. The evidence overwhelmingly supports this assertion. The quicker one consumes fruit harvested directly from the tree and the less time it spends in transit or storage, the better the nutrient retention. Since adopting an organic diet, my family has successfully avoided the widespread flu and gastroenteritis outbreaks that typically occur in winter.
