Today, companies are detailed in testing food deliveries in partnership with an undisclosed restaurant. The partnership aims to provide the information needed for developing a regulatory framework for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

After initial testing, companies have established their drone food delivery service. The FAA favors the endeavor and wants to add other restaurant partners to the program. First, customers will order meals, partner restaurants will prepare meals, and then drones will fly to a preplanned drop-off location. Finally, a delivery driver will complete the last mile to hand the food to the customer from that drop-off point.
