Founded by wine enthusiasts, Securovin is for winemakers who are fully committed to the product in the bottle with their name. Its wine bottle verification system prevents counterfeiting and attempts to refill bottles with original labels.

It comprises a smart label that stores critical product information. Each label is tailor-made and ensures an unparalleled level of security. The data encrypted on the label is integrated into its backend systems, which are used to verify authenticity at the time of purchase.

The customer experience is designed to be as simple as possible. Each label features a QR code that can be scanned to download the free Securovin app, available for both Android and iOS devices. After downloading the app, customers are guided through a tutorial that teaches them how to verify the authenticity of a bottle.

Tapping or hovering an NFC-enabled smartphone against the label triggers an action that verifies the bottle in Securovin’s backend. Within a few seconds, the authenticity of the bottle is confirmed, and the app displays the current tasting notes for the wine. As a failsafe, these labels stretch over the capsule and the wine bottle, ensuring that any tampering results in an unsuccessful verification.

Securovin understands that not all wine makers are willing to integrate a new system into their tried-and-tested labeling and logistics processes. To address this, it offers both fully automated and semi-automated systems that can be easily integrated into existing production lines.

Its solution has shown promising results in the real world. Domaine Meo-Camuzet, a Burgundy-based second-generation winemaker with an extensive product line ranging from affordable wines to the rarest in the world, found itself at a crossroads. With world-famous and highly sought-after Richebourg and Cros-Parantoux vineyards part of their portfolio, preventing counterfeiting was the client’s top priority.

Méo-Camuzet considered integrating an NFC chip into the front label. But this would still have left the option to tamper with the precious content, for instance by refilling individual opened bottles.

Securovin took it a step further by storing encrypted information about the vineyard and vintage in a non-removable seal attached to the capsule, resulting in a tamper-proof system that ensured every bottle sold was authentic and reflected the brand’s reputation.

Keen to enhance its offering, Securovin keeps an eye on the evolving technology landscape. It is actively seeking advanced chip technologies that offer tangible security advantages and a data retention period of at least 50 years. For greater ergonomics, it aims to optimize the antenna layout and improve NFC range. The Securovin App is also set to receive updates, including features that will allow winemakers to better track their product.
